Bike & Brunch

Rain or shine we said we were going for a bike ride and unfortunatley it was rain so off on an adventure we went this morning. We were thankful it was not cold and windy but we sure got wet!

Why the bicycling all of a sudden? Well, I decided I wanted to do a triathalon hence the new purchase of a bike. Now I need to get out more often. It is also a great excuse to go places and be with friends.

We met Lexy and Peter at The Fork Resturaunt out on North Shore Road. We rode from there to the end of the trail at the end of North Shore and back. It was about 12 miles round trip. We rode past the house I grew up in and many new houses that I had never seen before.

Why would we want to go in the pouring rain? We had a food motivator of course. Our plans were to have brunch at The Fork when we returned and it was so good!

Here we go!

Look at that action shot. Great job to, Will, the photographer. He made it look like we were flying.

Peter looking like a true biker.

Here comes Will at the beginning of the official trail.

End of the trail.

Not a very good waterfall picture but Will had literally just ran me over. I forgot that I don't have break lights and I stopped in a hurry to take this picutre and he kept going right into me. We didn't totally bite it thank goodness but it could have been bad. He caught me on my way down and I tweaked my back so we will see how tomorrow is. I see a sore day in my future. Needless to say I got the picture and I now know I need to yell that I am stopping. I am new to this biking thing I guess.

I loved this little tree growing out of the stump. It was so cute so it was a photo moment.

Will had to take this picture becuase there is a photo of Chris and Andy's old car wash on Samish Way on it. The sign was telling people to use commercial car washes so that the chemicals from the soaps went to proper storage places rather than the storm drains that get back to the fresh water. The photo is in the middle left. Kind of hard to see it but totally unexpected being out on a poster at a trainhead in the middle of nowhere. Pretty fun.

We made it back and it was time for brunch! If you have not been to this resturaunt it is super cute and the food is very good. They use a lot of local ingredients and the food tastes very fresh. Lexy, Peter and I all had Huevos Rancheros and Will had Biskets and Gravy which looked quite tasty. A little secret we had dinner there Thursday night too. I highly recommend it.

My well deserved mimosa. It was yummy!!
Another adventure and I want you all to notice that I am posting this the same day it happened so not behind here. :)
Cheers and until next time!

Home Sweet Home

So, I hear I am not a very good Blogger. My husband is even giving me a bad time about not keeping up with my adventures. I admit I am about three posts/stories behind so hopefully I will make up for it now.

This post is for many reasons. First, many of my Seattle friends don't know what my real house looks like so I thought I would put some pictures of my Thompson North home so they could see. They are outside pictures only because my original photo session for this post was for our, or I need to say Will's pond upgrade which I will get to shortly.

Home Sweet Home!

View from the yard.

We don't have much landscaping done but here are a few pictures of what is done. It is definitely a major work in progress. When you have 10 acres it takes a lot of motivation which is most definitely lacking on my end.

Yard art made by my dad out of old insulators. Pretty cool!

Okay, reason two for this post. A couple years ago while I was away at a Credit Union Management School Will put in a pond to surprise me and since then we have been looking for a old water pump to circulate the water. Well my dad recently found us a pump and Will put it together this weekend so I felt I had a story to share. The following is before, during and after photos for you. First of all we did have some cute friends help us or should I say they observed the progress.

Can you spot our frog? He is pretty cute.

Here is Wasabi. He posed nicely for the camera.
Of course we cannot forget about Riley. He was most definitely out helping. He loves to be outside and as my mom says "Be with his people."

Okay, here is the before picture with no water pump:

Some during photos:
Very focused! Don't ask how many trips to Hardware Sales he made that day he is a bit bitter about it.
After photos:
Good job to Will on a project completed. You can check it off your list. Hope you all enjoyed a mini tour of the outside of our house or at least some of the outside of it. There are many more places to venture but that can be posts for a later day. I will leave you with another Wasabi picture since he stuck around for many, many pictures.

Cheers and until next time!
